Early Insights from Fieldwork in Pakistan Presented by Mehwish and Michael

10th Annual Meeting of the South Asia Working Group (Arbeitskreis Südasien) in Freiburg

The programme included fourteen lectures, which covered a broad spectrum of geographic research in South Asia. In addition to a human-geographic focus of the topics, there were also interdisciplinary, physical-geographic and remote sensing contributions.

Mehwish opened the session on “Changes in Agriculture” with her ongoing research on transformation processes in Pakistan’s agriculture. Using an assemblage approach, she examines the changing constellations of actors, technologies, ecosystem elements, and institutions that are underlying current changes agricultural production in southern Punjab. Subsequently, Michael reported on current developments of Chinese investments in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
