MARISCO Method Learning

In a four-day workshop in March 2020, TRANSECT research group received a training in the applied MARISCO method, which was developed by the Centre for Econics and Ecosystem Management at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE). MARISCO is a toolbox allowing a participative scenario development by including stakeholders, e.g. farmers and decision-makers, examining and evaluating factors for well-being, stressors and root-causes. Aim is to develop possible future paths for an improvement of local social-ecological systems. TRANSECT researchers were assisted to evaluate all phases of scenario-development, particularly in systems that are impacted by agricultural transformations, but also to look into opportunities to adapt the MARISCO method to particular research settings. The learned MARISCO method will be applied in a series of stakeholder workshops in Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, starting from winter 2021/22.
